Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, improve efficiency, and provide information to site owners. Similar technologies include localStorage, sessionStorage, and IndexedDB.
2. Cookies We Use
Dump3 uses a minimal number of cookies and local storage, focused on functionality rather than tracking:
2.1 Strictly Necessary (no consent required)
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| sb-*-auth-token | Supabase | Authentication session. Keeps you logged in and identifies your account (including anonymous sessions). | Session / 7 days |
| cookie-consent | Dump3 | Stores your cookie preference so we don't ask again. | 1 year |
2.2 Functional (no consent required)
| Technology | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| localStorage: sound-preference | Remembers your preferred ambient sound (rain, fire, waves). | Persistent |
| sessionStorage: timer-state | Preserves your timer progress if you accidentally refresh the page. | Session |
| IndexedDB: offline-dumps | Stores brain dump text locally when you're offline, so nothing is lost. Synced to the server when you reconnect. | Until synced |
2.3 Analytics (consent required)
We may use privacy-focused analytics to understand how Dump3 is used in aggregate. If we do, we will only load analytics scripts after you have given consent via the cookie banner.
Currently, Dump3 does not use any third-party analytics cookies. If this changes, this section will be updated and you will be asked for consent before any analytics cookies are set.
3. Cookies We Do NOT Use
Dump3 does not use:
- Advertising cookies — We do not run ads and do not track you for advertising purposes.
- Third-party tracking cookies — We do not share your data with advertising networks, data brokers, or social media platforms.
- Cross-site tracking — We do not track your activity across other websites.
4. Managing Cookies
You can control cookies through several methods:
Cookie Banner
When you first visit Dump3, a cookie banner will appear allowing you to accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser cookies and revisiting the site.
Browser Settings
Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies (like the authentication cookie) will prevent you from using Dump3, as they are required for the app to function.

5. Changes to This Policy
If we add new types of cookies (for example, analytics), we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent before setting those cookies. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates the most recent revision.
